With only 3 Majors left this season the battle for Golfer of the Year 2018 is hotting up. Can Fergie Reid win for the 2nd year in a row? Will the father / son battle between Paul Moore Senior and Junior result in a GOY award or can someone else jump from the pack to prevail…… Time and 3 majors will tell.
Due to the upcoming Papal visit to Dublin on Sat 25th and Sun 26th and the expected traffic restrictions caused by the proceedings in the Phoenix Park on Sunday 26th it has been decided to make some alterations to the diary for Sunday 26th Aug.
There will be no prize-giving presentation on Sunday 26th August.
The presentation of the President’s Prize will now take place on Saturday 25th Aug circa 8:30pm once play is complete. All prize-winners on the day will be notified by phone as soon as results are to hand and are asked to be in attendance at the prize-giving.
The President’s Prize to the Ladies section will take place on Tues 21st August and the prize-giving for this competition will take place on the evening of Tues 21st Aug.
It has been decided to defer the prize-giving for the July Medal, August Medal and Professional’s Prize to a date in September. Details of this will be communicated in coming days.
Following a request from members the The Gents Golf Committee have agreed to run 9-hole qualifying competitions on Saturdays, on an experimental basis, for the month of August commencing Sat 4th August.
Each 9-hole competition will run in parallel with the competition of the day and MUST be played on the Front 9 only.Members will swipe in to enter and record their scores on the computer system as normal.
The entry fee for the 9 hole competition will be €3.
